Supporting Chinese communities
In addition to supporting international students, CHH’s services also reach elderly, family, and individuals of Chinese communities. COVID19 is not merely a physical health pandemic but quickly becoming a mental health crisis due to social distancing and isolation measures, circulation of media text, and information overloaded on social media.
Study Melbourne - International Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Forum
Spoke at the forum as a CHH representative. Had some great, open and honest discussions with other experts in the field. It seems many in the room held the consensus that an effective but also realistic way to tackle the relevant issues is through some sort of university - community (health) organisation collaborative model. More important works ahead.

Working with multicultural communities
As a member of the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) to Victorian Multicultural Commissions, I attended our latest meeting to discuss a range of issues such as standing up against racism, promoting family violence prevention, and developing mental health awareness and support strategies among multicultural communities amid the COVID19 outbreak. The meeting was covered by the local Leaders Newspaper, here.
The RAC meets quarterly and have frequent online communications.
